Sky Blue Sky by Wilco is one of my favorite records of 2007. It’s the kind of album that you can just put on and listen all the way through. Like the kind that Cream and the Eagles made back in the 70s. Jeff Tweedy’s voice sounds like a famillar old friend and the collection of songs is cohesive and moody. Nels Cline’s guitar work is worth the price of the CD, he soars and sings with his fingers. In fact, Nels is an accomplished jazz player in his other life and his record New Monastary is a finalist in the 2007 Jazz Journalist Association’s Album of the year.
I especially recommend you check out track one (Either Way) and track three (Impossible Germany).
If you haven’t picked it up yet, add it to your instant classic collection of album rock and roll. Neil Young must be proud.
