This week, I’m recommending In Our Nature, the brilliant new album from Jose Gonzalez.
It’s just him and his acoustic guitar. He’s Argentine, by way of Sweden, which makes for a rich blend of textures and sounds. His cover of Massive Attack’s Teardrop is deep, dark and moody. If you like Rodrigo y Gabriela’s records, you’ll absolutely love In Our Nature. While the record might seem restrained and mellow at first, later you’ll hear the rich overtones that make it intense (like Nirvana, unplugged).
Many of you have heard him guest star on Zero 7 records, now check out his solo project and prepare to discover a new ‘chill’ album. One reviewer put it best, when he said “quiet is the new loud.”
