My modern music pick this week is In The Future by Vancouver based band Black Mountain.
This record fits nicely with Monster Magnet and the Black Keys. At some times, it reminds me of what X might sound like if they were formed in the indie-age. These songs are great. The first seven tracks are all instant classics and the band’s sound is brown and organic.
Listen to track 4, Wucan, and you’ll buy this CD. The track is hypnotic, groovy and deftly fuses old prog rock with swampy delta blues.
